Troop 1030 is a newly founded Troop in Historic Punta Gorda, Florida chartered by American Legion Post 103.
We run an active year round program, including monthly trips, camping, and an annual week at summer camp
and winter camp. Our meetings are every Monday evening from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the American Legion Post 103.
Troop 1030 is Scout led to prepare our scouts to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
Our fun and exciting program and outdoor adventures prepare the youth in our community for a lifetime of character, independence, citizenship, leadership, camaraderie, team work and outdoor skills all in accordance with the principles of Scouting, focusing on traditional skills and values of pioneering and frontiersman-ship.
About BSA Scout Troop 1030
Scout Master Chris is an Eagle Scout. He also served in the Army and was deployed to Dessert Storm. After the military, he joined the Police Dept. and volunteered his time in EMS and as a fire fighter. Chris went to paramedic school and joined the Philadelphia Fire Department and worked there for over 15 years. After injuring his shoulder, he was medically retired and moved to Port Charlotte Florida couple years later. Chris is also a Mason, Shriner and a member of the American Legion.
Assistant Scout Master Mike moved to Port Charlotte Florida from Long Island New York with his family couple years ago. He is a full time employee at PGT. Mike is a very hard working, dedicated father who noticed the changes the Scouting Program did for his son. Mike joined Troop 1030 to be more involved in his son's scouting life.
Assistant Scout Master John is a retired Fire Chief recently moved to North Port Florida from Ohio with his family. John dedicated over 20 years
to the Greenfield Township Fire Dept.
in Carroll, Ohio.
